Description

Note: Approval is pending in the following states: NV, SC, UT.
Law firms of all shapes and sizes, from the solo general practitioner to large litigation firms, often needlessly expose themselves to malpractice due to the inefficient management of the calendaring process. For example, a firm of fourteen attorneys may very well have fourteen individualized calendaring systems in place which increases the risk of a calendaring error occurring. To the detriment of clients and firms, calendar failures are common and clients are intolerant of such mistakes.

This program will demonstrate how easy it is to avoid some of the ways that calendaring missteps occur through the use of a well-designed calendaring and docket control process.  While there is no one right way to accomplish the task, the key will be in thoughtful planning, thorough training, and commitment to follow through from everyone in the office.

Outline:

  1. Proper Mail Handling
  2. What to Calendar
  3. Quality Control
  4. Contingency Planning
  5. Odds-n-Ends

A Sampling of Attendee Takeaways:

  • An awareness of the importance of independent redundancies in the calendaring process.
  • An understanding of calendaring best practices to include file review dates, use of reminders, and calendaring guidelines.
  • What the fallout of poor calendaring practices can be.
  • Ways that technology can be used to create additional calendaring efficiencies as well as reduce risk to a malpractice claim.
